You don’t need an account to hear a little good news.

This policy describes the Good News Button website and iPhone app, operated by steerike. Contact help@goodnewsbutton.com with privacy questions or requests.

Using the button

We don’t add advertising, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics SDKs. The website keeps its current story and voice choice in memory while the page is open. We don’t send your listening history to our application database.

The iPhone app stores preferences, story history, saved stories, and downloaded audio on your device. Its widgets share this local information. It does not request your microphone, contacts, or location. Device backups are governed by your Apple settings.

Delivering stories and audio

Our website, feed, and recordings are delivered through Vercel, including Vercel Blob. Requests disclose connection information such as your IP address, browser or device information, requested URL, and request time to the hosting service. This information is used to deliver files, secure the service, and diagnose failures.

Vercel’s standard Pro runtime-log window is one day; other operational and security records follow Vercel’s privacy policy. That log window is not a promise that all provider records are deleted within one day. We do not maintain a separate listening-history or visitor-profile database.

AI and story production

Our backend uses model services through LangSmith to prepare stories, Neon to store editorial records, and ElevenLabs to create recordings. Story production runs separately from your button presses. Your listening history, microphone audio, and support messages are not part of the story-generation workflow. We retain editorial evidence and operational records to avoid repeats and investigate errors.

When you email us

We receive your email address, message, and any information you choose to include, and use them to answer you or investigate a problem. Email is handled through Resend in the United States. Resend’s standard email and log retention is 30 days, with backups lasting seven days, as described in its retention information. We do not currently copy support email into an agent memory or separate support database.

Links and Apple services

Opening a source takes you to another publisher’s website, which has its own privacy practices. Sharing from the iPhone app uses Apple’s share sheet and the destination you choose. Apple manages App Store distribution, payments, and any diagnostics you choose to share under its own settings and privacy policy. We do not receive payment-card details.

Your choices

You can clear website data through your browser and remove the app’s local data by deleting the app; backups may retain copies under your device settings. Email us to ask about access, correction, or deletion of information you have sent us. Your rights depend on where you live, and may include objecting to processing or contacting your local privacy regulator. We use service providers to operate the service; we do not sell your personal information.
